 THIS IS AN OPEN CASTING CALL

 

PAID OPPORTUNITY FOR PERFORMERS

 

This is an open casting call for performers to audition to be a part of an exciting new Arts Council funded project entitled ‘The Haunting of Lenny Maggot’: a two person show. This is a theatre performance and creative workshop experience aimed at children aged 5-11. The project is focused on an Anti-bullying theme and will include live performance, puppetry, poetry, and dance. The project will be toured directly to primary schools in Rotherham between April and June 2025. Please review the project information below and email your CV and headshot to tairrafiq@gmail.com. Deadline for applications, 12 Noon Monday 6th December. Successful candidates will be informed by Wednesday 11th December.

 

Audition Dates:

20th December 2024.

Venue – Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance, Westgate Chambers, 5 Westgate, Rotherham, S60 1AN.

Maximum audition time – 90 minutes.

 

Rates of Pay:

The project is paid at ITC/Equity rates for rehearsals, plus extra for performances and workshops.

Rehearsals - £126 full Day.

For purposes of rehearsal, a full day is 6 hours. A half day is 4 hours and would be payable at half day rate of £63, but we anticipate rehearsals will be mainly full days.

 

Performance fee - £150.

This will be for the performance of a short play in schools of approximately 45 minutes.

 

Workshop fee - £160.

This is the pay for one performer to deliver a creative workshop in schools, with support from the project leader. It is anticipated that the workshop duties will alternate between two actors.

 

Total minimum fee per performer based on project schedule:

£4360.

There is scope for more earnings. We are working to add more dates to the schedule for April to June 2025. Performers will be kept up to date with regards to any additional engagements and pay.

 

Timescales:

The following timescales are subject to adjustment if needed, but these are the dates as they currently stand:

Week commencing 10/02/2025 – Script R&D with the first draft script, 5 days.

17/03/2025 – Final draft of script delivered to actors and project partners.

Week commencing 31/03/2025 – Two weeks rehearsal, 10 days total. It is anticipated that that there will be an open dress rehearsal at the end of the two weeks with an invited audience.

There is provision for an additional 5 days of rehearsals, dates flexible.

28/04/2025 – Rockingham Junior & Infants.

29/04/2025 – Brinsworth Howarth Primary School.

01/05/2025 – High Greave Junior School.

06/05/2025 – Herringthorpe Junior School.

09/05/2025 – Bramley Sunnyside Junior School.

22/05/2025 – Greasbrough Primary School.

03/06/2025 – Roughwood Primary School.

06/06/2025 – Badsley Moor Primary School.

 

Performers:

Essential:

Must be aged 18 years or older.

Must be in possession of up-to-date DBS certificate.

Must have legal right to work in the UK.

 

Preferred:

Experience in theatre performance for primary school aged children.

Some experience with puppetry.

Experience in delivering creative workshops.

Local to South Yorkshire, willing to commute.
